Tariq Karibian is a Palestinian-Armenian writer from the Metro-Detroit area. He writes primarily Southwest Asian/North African-inspired work, but his writing also blends his roots with other cultures, traditions, and identities to explore human intersectionality. His fiction has appeared in Phoebe Journal and is forthcoming in Waxwing Literary Journal, while his poetry has been featured in Oxford Magazine and the Rising Phoenix Review. His debut novel “The Watermelon Men” is in development.

Beyond his own creative projects, he has also contributed to the NBA writing articles for the Philadelphia 76ers, two of which having received acclaim as “Best of SB Nation NBA.”

Tariq holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Villanova University and a M.A. in Humanities/Creative Writing from the University of Chicago. Currently, he is a M.F.A. candidate at Emerson College, where he also teaches an introductory rhetoric and composition course.
